I was inspired by SP's layout for the latest Speed Scrap. This is my version. I used the Hopscotch, Gracie, Barefoot, Sandbox, and Heartfelt collections. I used to think that I didn't like drop shadows, but I realized that I needed to experiment with them if I was going to recreate SP's layout. I have to say I really liked using them on this page. They can make a big difference. Maybe I'll keep working with them.

i am sooooo FLATTERED that you were inspired by my LO, thank you thank you you did a beautiful job with it...and still made yours unique! i LOVE the slanted journaling (really gives the LO and edgy-ness...and great movement - which totally works on a zebra ride page, lol)...and the scattered hearts! but most of all...amelia and henry and just adorable, he he! especially love the pic of him pushing her...what a sweet big brother!

for drop shadows...they can be daunting, lol! i think for me - it comes from starting out as a 'paper scrapper'...so when i started digi scrapping - i worked really hard to replicate that depth and dimension of the 'real' layouts, kwim? i actually 'studied' the shadows created on my paper layouts by different weighted papers and embellishments...to try to best duplicate them in photoshop now...it's kinda second-nature for me...but i do find myself experimenting with them again (finding i like them a little more pronounced than i might have in the past). for many - they prefer to keep a flatter or more 'digital' look to their pages - and for that, shadows are not always necessary! especially when working with a clean, ad-style...

so - just have fun with it and go with what YOU like best i have seen some GORGEOUS pages without shadows - it just depends on the look you are going for! i still smile when friends and family looks at my albums/books and run their hands over the pages thinking that they will feel 'real' ribbons and flowers, etc. lolol! but - i also have many albums with NO shadows anywhere...just slick, ad-style pages - and LOVE those as well!

This is SO cute! I LOVE the colors you've chosen for this layout! I think I've mentioned it before, too, that I LOVE the red hair! Where do your kids get it from? They are completely adorable!

I have a little red in my hair, but pretty much everyone on their daddy's side has red hair, so they probably get it from him.
