Journal:
I definitely feel like part of a virtual sisterhood. It’s so strange to feel close to folks that you’ve never met or spoken with in person. When I first began digi scrapping, I participated in a site CT contest. I didn’t even understand what the purpose of the contest was, and of course, I was eliminated in the first round. I was discouraged, and I began to think that I’d never get the hang of scrapping digitally. A couple of sweet gals encouraged me to keep at it, though. One was a designer, and she gave me a free kit to add to my very small stash. Their kindness was the perfect motivation I needed. When that same designer announced that she was going to retire, I surprised myself by literally crying like someone had died. I feared I was losing my “friend”. She hung around, though, and has since returned to designing. I guess my point is that despite only having a “virtual” relationship, I still feel very close to my digi scrapping friends. It’s a sisterhood of diverse women all willing to share our joys, fears, struggles, and day-to-day happenings. They are a source of inspiration, motivation, and encouragement. Now, I'm not Polly Anna about this ... I understand that other's may feel differently about me. That's OK! As I get older, I've come to realize that this is just how it is, and to not take folks for granted. Circumstances may change at a moment's notice and the tiny thread that connects us will be broken. In the mean time, I'm just enjoying being part of this virtual sisterhood.
