Altered cigar boxes make for unique storage (I keep some of my foam stamps in the larger sized boxes), and they're also great for holding little albums and trinkets. This particular cigar box was really quick and easy to alter. I started with an empty wooden box picked up freely in one of our local "smoke shops". Some of these places are eager to hand them out. All you have to do is ask!

First, I peeled all the labels and paper off the box, followed by sanding with a wet sanding to remove the remaining adhesive and paper backing. Next, I applied a layer of Gesso to ensure a smooth surface. After the Gesso was dry I simply trimmed my papers and adhered my them to the box using Mod Podge for Paper. The extra embellishments were adhered with E6000.

I plan to keep a 4x6 brag book full of my boys' baby photos in this little "Heart Breaker" box. I'm so sad to see them growing so quickly!
