: I'm scrapping with Photoshop Elements and when I try to use one of the .png files from a kit - the background is no longer transparent...it instead has a white/gray background, so I can not recolor it or use it without the 'square' in the background! How can I keep the transparency?
Answer : This question has come up several times since the release of Photoshop Elements 6.0 (and later editions). I'm not sure why Adobe made this change to previous versions of the program...but from what I understand...working with png (transparent background) files is a bit different now :o( a wonderful customer (thanks Shana) was kind enough to share her answer to this question with us! While I have never worked with PSE...I'm hoping this information will help some of you guys :o) here goes:
"Apparently, the newer version of PS Elements do not allow files like digital scrapbooking elements to be dragged from the project bin to the active project like Elements 5 did. Instead, the user must create the new project. And then, in order to add elements to the project - the user needs to click FILE and then PLACE. Then open the folder with the scrapbooking elements and click on the element that you wish to add. Once you click on the element, it will show up on your project as it should. It is a bit more clumbsy than just adding elements to the project bin and dragging them to the project, but it works.”
