Whether you’re moving into fall right now like me in the U.S. or into spring like Kylie in Australia, they are often great times to be outdoors.
Let’s take some inspiration from the great outdoors as we speed scrap today! And as you work on your layout, somewhere you should include the color yellow to represent the sun. This can be in papers or elements and can be a lot of yellow or just a little. It’s up to you!
-
Add two or three photos to your layout. You may place them in frames if you like (not required).
-
Add 2 solid papers and 2 patterned papers
-
Add as much foliage as you want (greenery, leaves, etc) plus 3 different flowers (you can use as many of each as you like, but use only 3 different ones).
-
Add one wood OR metal element.
-
To represent wind, add an element or brush
scatter. It can be a scatter from a kit, or you can create your own scatter with an element or brush of your choice. For ideas, check out Casharina’s tips on working with brushes and scattering ->
HERE!
-
Add a title using a combination of an alpha and a font.
That’s it! :o) …you’ve now received all 6 of your instructions. You may not add any other elements to your page that haven’t been explicitly stated in the instructions :o) Also remember that fonts are “free” and you can add EXTRA journaling and/or a date to your page if you wish (as well as anything else you would like to do with fonts/text).
Please post your layout here by 5PM Eastern Daylight Time (one hour and ten minutes from now – so make sure you allow enough time!) in order to qualify for the prize drawings. If you are having trouble uploading your layout to the gallery, you can find help HERE.
SP, Kylie and I will be posting our layouts shortly if you want to head on over to the Fast & Fabulous Gallery for a peek at how we scrapped along with the instructions :o)
Happy Scrapping!!
IMPORTANT: Be sure to REFRESH this page in your browser to see comments and to get the next instruction!

In just a short while (1 hour to be exact!) we’ll post the first instruction right here on the blog! If you’ve never participated in an event like this before, you’re in for a treat! Here’s a little more information on how things will work:
- I’ll provide one instruction for you every 10 minutes.
- Often the instruction will tell you a type of material to use. If no specific instruction is given on how to use that piece of material, then that means it’s totally up to you!
- Text/Fonts…are “freebies” and can be used without being explicitly called for in the instructions. This is primarily because journaling is a personal preference, and some love it and some don’t :o)
- If you have questions about the instruction, please post a comment on the ‘instructions’ blog post. We’ll answer your questions as quickly as possible!
- The last instruction will be posted at 3:50PM (Eastern Daylight Time). You’ll have an additional hour to “play with” your layout, but you must post your finished layout to the gallery HERE by 5:00PM (Eastern Daylight Time) to qualify for the prize drawings!
- If you are having trouble uploading your layout to the gallery, you can find help HERE.
We’ll post the FIRST INSTRUCTION at 3PM sharp! (REMEMBER that’s United States Eastern Daylight Savings Time, folks!!)
We hope to see you then! :o)

hey guys :o) SP here today…for the AUGUST project SCRAP 2012 check-in! For most of us, August is a transition month – whether you are transitioning from summer break to the start of school…or one season to another – it’s just one of those BUSY months! Because, it seems like no matter what the transition is…it ALWAYS involves a lot of extra time and work, lol! Hmmmm, or perhaps it’s just me? Goodness I hope not! Like many of you…our August was spent enjoying the last bit of ‘free time’ before school started…ya know – trying to squeeze out every possible bit of fun, lol! My boys did some traveling while I stayed home and worked (great mommy time…though time away from my boys is never easy for me…no matter how old they get, lol)…and then, of course – we had lots of wonderful family time together as well! And, since I’m still doing lots and lots of work (more on that soon, smiles)…I’ll stop rambling and get to the point of the post here, lol!
So, for our check-in today, we’ll be peeking at the AUGUST templates and some of the amazing layouts from the project SCRAP 2012 inspiration gallery! If you missed the August templates – no worries, you can still download them HERE! We’ll start with my pages…which are kinda ‘all-over-the-place’ lol! Such a mish-mash of photos and colors…but I think I am finally happy with the end result (though it seemed a long road getting to that point, he he)! It’s funny…I am DEATHLY afraid of frogs…I mean like you wouldn’t believe…so taking the pic of the frog was so hard for me (thank Goodness for zoom lenses)…but nowhere near as difficult as having it in front of me in photoshop as I worked on these layouts for so long, LOLOL! Seriously…

Now, how about Kylie’s HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY pages? I swear, the girls look soooooo grown-up here…and so gorgeous! Looks like some fun auntie/niece time…and adorable layouts to boot :o)

Loving Kim’s layouts (nothing new there, lol)! I enjoyed reading her description about the color palette as I felt the same way with mine this month…and as per usual – we seemed to be on the same ‘page’ with some of our paper/embellishment choices, lol! So fun :o)

Sweet Amber rocked the August templates, too! Everything is perfect here…but especially the choice of the golden damask paper – it just highlights all of the photos beautifully! Always look forward to Amber’s gallery!

Finally, we have Rosy’s layouts…totally enjoying the dark blue/yellow color palette, and the subtle changes and additions she made (they really work so well!)

So, I think that will do it for inspiration today! Of course, there are MORE layouts to enjoy in the project SCRAP 2012 gallery – so be sure to take a peek…I have no doubt that you will find yourself INSPIRED :o)
Before I go…here is a quick little peek at September’s templates – so pretty! Kylie will be sharing them with you next Thursday :o)

I hope you all have a wonderful day/night…and that you are having a great time scrapping 2012 with us! DON‘T FORGET that this SATURDAY we are having another FAST & FABULOUS speed scrap here at the BLOG :o) We TRULY hope you’ll join us (everyone is invited!) – it’s going to be SO MUCH FUN! See ya there…until then - XOXO — SP :o)

Hi all! Casharina here! I am so excited to share a new trick with you that I have JUST recently learned…so let’s get started shall we?? As far as I know this trick can only be done in Photoshop CS5 or newer…so apologies to those of you that don’t have that particular software…but for readers that do have CS5 or CS6 it would be a shame not to share my latest trick with you guys!!
- First of all you need to get your straight item. You can do this while working on a layout if you choose, but for this tutorial I’ve chosen to open only the element. I’m using the straight pink ric rac from the beautiful blossom collection.
- Next, go to Edit -> Puppet Warp

- You’ll see a weird looking grid show up on your element, don’t worry, it’s normal!
- Next you’ll want to place your cursor on the outer edge of your ric rac, the cursor will turn into a pushpin-type illustration. This is simply a step to “pin” the ric rac in place and not allow that spot to move. Pin each side of the ric rac.

- Then you’ll put a pin in the center of the ric rac. If you’d like to make it curve here you will simply drag this pin downwards/upwards and you will see the ric rac start to bend. In previous versions when elements were transformed the pixels would warp – this new trick avoids that icky warped look.

- If you choose, you can add another “pin” to another spot along the ric rac and drag it down. This is helpful if you’re trying to attach the ric rac to a banner etc.
- Once you’ve got your element curved the way you want it simply hit ENTER and you’re finished.

How simple is that…I’m SO excited to start using this trick in my scrapbook pages. I’d love to see your finished layouts showing off this new tip…so don’t forget to load them up to the Shoppe Gallery!!
Be sure to stop by tomorrow when SP brings us the latest projectScrap check-in!!
