Fast and Fabulous ::: INSTRUCTIONS :o)
Saturday, September 15, 2012

Whether you’re moving into fall right now like me in the U.S. or into spring like Kylie in Australia, they are often great times to be outdoors.
Let’s take some inspiration from the great outdoors as we speed scrap today! And as you work on your layout, somewhere you should include the color yellow to represent the sun. This can be in papers or elements and can be a lot of yellow or just a little. It’s up to you!
-
Add two or three photos to your layout. You may place them in frames if you like (not required).
-
Add 2 solid papers and 2 patterned papers
-
Add as much foliage as you want (greenery, leaves, etc) plus 3 different flowers (you can use as many of each as you like, but use only 3 different ones).
-
Add one wood OR metal element.
-
To represent wind, add an element or brush scatter. It can be a scatter from a kit, or you can create your own scatter with an element or brush of your choice. For ideas, check out Casharina’s tips on working with brushes and scattering -> HERE!
-
Add a title using a combination of an alpha and a font.
That’s it! :o) …you’ve now received all 6 of your instructions. You may not add any other elements to your page that haven’t been explicitly stated in the instructions :o) Also remember that fonts are “free” and you can add EXTRA journaling and/or a date to your page if you wish (as well as anything else you would like to do with fonts/text).
Please post your layout here by 5PM Eastern Daylight Time (one hour and ten minutes from now – so make sure you allow enough time!) in order to qualify for the prize drawings. If you are having trouble uploading your layout to the gallery, you can find help HERE.
SP, Kylie and I will be posting our layouts shortly if you want to head on over to the Fast & Fabulous Gallery for a peek at how we scrapped along with the instructions :o)
Happy Scrapping!!

Are you ready to see the winners??? Coming soon :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 17:03:40
Oh No! I just went to post my lo and saw that the gallery rule is that all lo’s must contain 75% SP! I didn’t realize that, and only used a SP alpha. Does that 75% rule apply to the speed scrap?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 17:11:04
oh well, it was fun anyway! Thanks!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 17:17:57
Aw man, I’m sorry to hear that wasn’t clear! Yes, to post in the gallery, we ask that all layouts be 75% Shabby Shoppe products. Of course we are glad you had fun scrapping along with us today!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:32:56
or the heart tree stamp from gracie?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:37:02
Yes – I’d count that!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:31:03
does the sweetie pie floral swirl border count as foliage?? it does look like leaves ;-))
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:40:46
Yes, that will work for foliage :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:15:35
sorry, should have finished reading the instructions ;-)
do word art brushes from SP – only containing wording – count as font/alpha?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:20:54
Thanks fine Elisabeth – so yes!! And HI!!!!!! :o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:22:28
oops – I meant to say THAT’s fine!! LOL!! Oh dear me!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:07:31
no journalling allowed? if yes, am I allowed to use a different font for that?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:09:25
Actually, you can use as much journaling as you want. Text/fonts are “free” so you can do what you’d like with them :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:58:53
and is it allowed to recolour a solid paper?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:01:19
Yes, recoloring is completely fine. Although to be fair, if you recolor a solid paper, then it does count as your other solid paper. But the only color requirement in these instructions is to include yellow somewhere. :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:01:50
hey elisabeth :o) welcome! and yep – i know i did a bit of recoloring on some of my ‘stuff’…so have at it! can’t wait to see!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:58:02
can I use glitter as a scatter?
thanx
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:59:21
Yep, I think that works great as a scatter :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:53:39
OK, so I am a bit late, but I am going to try to jump in here :)! I hope it’s not cheating to see several steps at once :)!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:54:49
YAY, jess…so happy to see ya here! have fun scrapping…u better get busy, lolol!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:55:59
Not cheating at all!! :) Glad you could join us!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 17:17:09
Thanks ladies! That was super fun, I hope to join in from the beginning next time :)!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:53:15
OK, so does our “something yellow” have to be one of the items you added in the instructions today? Or can it be a separate thing (i.e. an element that wasn’t called for in the instructions… as in, not a flower… and not metal or wood… ahem… hahaha)?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:04:00
The “yellow” is a little bit of sunny inspiration (or whatever that might mean to you in your layout! :o) You can be as creative as you like)!! It needs to be factored in as you follow the instructions…so it’s not something extra. But there is flexibility in that it could be in a patterned paper, a flower or the metal element. Even as part of the scatter. Your choice!! Have fun!!! :o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:06:03
OK, just wanted to make sure about whether it had to be factored into the items in the instructions or if it was additional. Thanks, Kylie! :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 16:09:21
You’re welcome!!! I desperately wanted to include my usual Bounce stitched sun but instead went with a little yellow in my papers and my scattering. :o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:47:10
yay! so glad I made it here…I’ve missed all of the past speed scraps, and almost missed this one!
Better late than never, I guess!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:48:51
YAY, so glad you could join us! And you’re right about better late than never. Hey, we all have lots going on, so we know it’s scrap when you can sometimes!! :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:51:16
WELCOME :o) and yep – still plenty of time…so jump in and have fun!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:46:49
That was FUN! I am going to have to do that more on other layouts!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:54:25
YAY, FUN is what we are all about today :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:45:48
Is is alright if I have 4 photos?
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:53:40
Unfortunately, this time the instructions are to use only 2 or 3. We’ll all be a bit challenged today to make all these things come together in a layout, but I’m sure we’ll have some masterpieces to show for it at the end!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:29:34
Two patterns is all we get?!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:30:43
I know – tricky huh??!! ;o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:31:28
Yes, that’s all we put in this time. But you are so awesome at working them into your layouts in creative ways… I’m sure you will make only two work :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:34:10
I’m afraid I will end up doing most of my creative work, once I have all the instruction and know what I have to work with! LOL!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:36:25
Yeah, I can see it’s like putting a puzzle together at first without knowing what the picture is…. but then, it’s also fun to be challenged!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:17:07
It’s 5:15am here and I can here all the birds outside waking up!!! It’s soooo noisy!! LOL!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:18:08
It’s 12:15 here. We just moved from Michigan to Oregon. Hence my “leftover enchiladas” (it’s lunchtime!). Weird to be Pacific Time Zone after all those years on the east coast. :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:20:24
That’s a big change!! Glad you get a nice LONG lunch “break” today :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:21:46
hope the move went well, laura :)
and lol kylie…the bird wakeup gets old here sometimes, too lol!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:24:18
You know Laura, you’re making me hungry! LOL!! LOVE enchiladas! But it’s just too early for breakfast…give me a couple of hours I’ll whip something up!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:18:28
Oh, so fun! I want to go to Australia! :0)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:19:17
:o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:20:56
Me too! We could just all go stay at Kylie’s house – lol!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:22:01
me three, lol!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:23:04
Kylie didn’t realize when she logged on today that she would be inviting us all on vacation at her place… :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:25:12
The MORE THE MERRIER!!! Come on over anytime!! :o) LOL!!!
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:13:56
And I will add that my photos don’t have any yellow in them :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:13:47
I went for bright and sunny pics…hoping that yellow will go, either way!! ;o)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:10:07
Is everyone frantically trying to find photos that work well with yellow?! I am shocked there is no chatter yet. So I am being proactive. :)
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:12:49
This was the part I wondered about… how everyone would feel about having to have some yellow! So we did decide to mention it FIRST so no one was flustered later after photos were picked. Just remember… it doesn’t have to be a LOT of yellow. Just a little pop of yellow can add a little “brightness” to our layouts today. Maybe that helps??
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:14:37
Oh gosh, no worries. I am not bothered by the yellow. :) I will just switch my photos to grayscale if I have to, LOL! :) I was kidding. I was just stymied by the silence! Usually, I can’t keep up w/ you guys’ chatter. LOL
Sep 15, 2012 @ 15:16:00
LOL, laura :o) good luck!
