Sharpening for the web makes such a huge difference! Janet over at The Daily Digi has instructions for sharpening that work really well in PSE. I've had good results, and it's super simple. Here's the URL for her post about it: http://thedailydigi.com/a-scott-kelby-approach/. :)

This is such an awesome way to sharpen!!! I've learnt so much from this post, not just how to sharpen professionally but the duplicate and the high pass filter... things I've never attempted before. LOVE learning new stuff on PS!!! Thanks Rachel! :o)

PS My action stops just before "save for web and devices" because I thought the user would need to choose how large or small to make the file depending on where it was being uploaded.

I made an action (my first!) with the above instructions exactly. I made it with Photoshop CS5, so I don't know if it's compatible with elements or not, but it seems to work on my system. I hope I did it right, and that it's okay that I took the liberty to do it. I thought it would be nice to automate your great tip. The link to the action file is here:

Thank you so much for this blog. I have learned so much from it, and I love SP products!

Fabulous post, Rachel!!! I have always been a bit confused about sharpening. In fact SP and I have exchanged quite a few e-mails on the subject! I'm doing better on it now though - Thanks!!!
