Hello everyone, Beckie here! It’s been far too long…I’m so happy to be back selecting this week’s LOTW! Once again it was SUCH a hard task! I’ve decided to sort of cheat – I’m going to show you my super fabulous selection for LOTW - and then, two more layouts that were among my favorite finalists! And if you haven’t checked out the gallery lately – WOW – you’re missing tons of awesome inspiration!
So, let’s get started with this week’s LAYOUT OF THE WEEK winner! I’m so happy to introduce a brand new poster to the Shoppe – sandrai and her layout called “friends“. I hope you love it, too! I love the depth and realism to her shadows, I also love the perfectly placed flowers and vines. I love multi photo layouts, and I think her design is beautiful. And she’s a new poster to the Shoppe gallery – so I thought this would be a wonderful way to welcome her! Best of all, you can all pick up this kit - the Plentiful collection – for FREE!
So welcome sandrai, congratulations on being this week’s winner (you should have a $10 gift card to the Shabby Shoppe in your email inbox)! We hope to see more wonderful layouts from you in the future. :)
Now, for my ‘honorable mention’ layouts! The layout on the left is another gorgeous creation from Mamabean, this one is simply STUNNING! So gorgeous in its simplicity :) The layout on the right is another stunner that caught my eye this week. It is a gorgeous creation from Primeval Pixie. So gorgeous and romantic. Be sure to take a moment to see all the gorgeous details in this one and read a bit about how she pulled it all together!
And, you can’t possibly miss WEDNESDAY’s post with SP! Part 2 of our 1st Birthday Bash celebrations – YAY!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!! :o) It’s Kylie and I’m here to share a little hybrid inspiration with you today!
Okay, so here’s the deal! I wanted to create gifts that were super quick and easy, still had tonnes of detail, and something that didn’t look like it had just been slapped together. And, as I was making not one gift but multiples – the quicker each one was to put together the better!
My starting point > > > The piece-a-cake BADGE albums available at the Shabby Shoppe. Aren’t they sweet!
There are lots of beautiful little BADGE album sets and each one uses a favorite Shabby Princess kit. There’s Carousel, Twirl, Bounce, Gabby, Wild Love, Barefoot and Blossom. And I picked out Sandbox and Yours Truly for my hybrid projects! But, I think I want them ALL anyway!!!
My nieces and nephews are at an age where they love to doodle – anywhere and everywhere! So, I thought it’d be a great idea to jazz up a few boring notebooks with some Shabby Princess flair! Then, they could scribble away to their hearts’ content on something a bit more special than a scrap of paper or a blank school book. Here is what I made for them by putting a creative twist to the piece-a-cake badge albums:
Let’s start simple. I purchased a few packs of cheap pocket sized lined notepads from a local department store. After measuring the dimensions of the front cover (112 x 77mm) I went to work in Photoshop. (Please note that although the size of pocket notepads will not be universal, the idea is to get close to the badge album size of 2.5×3.25 inches (or 63.5 x 82.5mm)). The badge album pngs were slightly smaller so I enlarged them to fit the cover. This adjustment in size was very small and I was okay with loosing a tiny bit of resolution as a result. I layered some lined paper underneath the badge album image and added some text to show through the “photo” spaces. I repeated this for all the covers I required. I then printed the new covers on some semi-gloss photo paper, trimmed each one and used double-sided tape to adhere the photo paper to the notepad. Hey presto – pretty notepads in no time at all!!! I ended up putting together three notepads for each child. And, as a simple gift card to go with my gifts I took another badge album image (as the front side to my card) and added to it “a little gift for you” text. So that I could fold the card and both front and back would look nice, I added a new layer (exactly the same size as the ‘front’ side) and placed it to the left of the ‘front’ badge album image. I then clipped a coordinating paper over the new layer. All that was left to do was print, trim and fold. Oh, and write in the card!
If you feel like being a little more crafty - well, you’ll enjoy making these little hybrid notebooks! You can be as creative as you want! This time I decorated different style of notebook – blank pages for drawing – C7 in size (114 x 81mm or approx 4.5 x 3inches). In Photoshop I added my four different badge album images and added another layer of coordinating paper (same size as badge album image) underneath to fill the “photo” space. Printed and trimmed each piece. I opened another work area in Photoshop and this time I created a layer the size of the notebook cover. I clipped my chosen paper over this newly created layer. I repeated this so that I ended up with 8 separate layers – one for the front cover and one for the inside of the front cover – for all four notebooks. Printed and trimmed each piece. I took the front covers off and painted the edges and sides (allowed to dry). Used double sided tape to adhere the paper layers to each cover and then used 3D squares to adhere the badge album image to the ‘paper layer’ to give it some height/interest. I then re-attached the cover to the notebook spiral binding. This is the foundation of the project – now you can decorate however you like! I raided my craft supplies and added glitter to some sponge letters, tied ribbon to the binding, added a key-ring pen (sourced from here), a few printed elements from the coordinating digital kits Sandbox and Yours Truly, a few more 3D adhesive dots, a button or two and some bling.
In terms of hybrid project equipment - you only need the basics. Color printer, paper (photo paper or cardstock – your choice!), scissors, glue and/or double-sided tape, 3D dots or mounting tape (optional) and whatever decorations you’d like to use.
And, last but not least, it’s always nice to use your piece-a-cake products to help build a layout.
Hope you enjoyed today’s little hybrid post. Be sure to check-in on MONDAY for our Layout of the Week. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! HAPPY SCRAPPING (and/or hybrid project crafting!! ) :o)

hey girls…SP here with another PROJECT SCRAP check-in post, lol :o) I just finished scrapping my April layouts…it took me a couple of weeks to get through all of my photos, lol! I know from browsing the gallery…that many of you have already completed (and posted) yours…YAY! Doesn’t it feel good when you have them done and are ready for the next month? Just LOVE that feeling of being ‘caught up’ – instead of always running BEHIND :o) It’s a different feeling for me, and I like it, lolol!
k…enough rambling, how about some inspiration for the APRIL layouts?
First, we have my pages (SP)…I had soooooo many April photos – so this was a difficult month to scrap! I will have to do extra layouts for more pics, without doubt! It was also difficult because with so many photos, there was no real ‘color palette’ to work with, know what I mean? I tend to enjoy scrapping more when I have a definite direction with color, lol! But…I really like how this turned out…and it certainly ‘challenged’ me, which was nice :o) We went on a vacation in April…so there were lots of photos from that (way more than I could include on these pages)…and a few other mingled in as well! I have been loving how Kylie works with the Darling Paper Collection as a ‘foundation’ for her project SCRAP pages…and am thinking of taking her lead with mine! I really think it will result in a beautiful album at the end of the year…that flows well from page to page, month to month (even though you might work with different colors each month…the papers will still tie together from layout to layout)! The best part about the Darling Papers is that there are SO many colors…and, you can mix/match with just about any kit (and Goodness knows I DO, lol) :o)
Next, we have Kylie’s yummy pages! As always, I adore her color scheme…and use of the Darling Paper Collection! GREAT JOB, Kylie…super fun pics…and beautiful, too (especially love those bunny ears)!
I also had to share these precious pages by jessg26! I believe I included her pages on the March check-in, too – lol! Sooooo inspiring – keep up the great work – I know I look forward to each month :o)
And last…but way far from least…I just had to include mommy2two’s gorgeous April pages! Does it get any cuter? Her paper and element choices are genius…and from the pics – it looks like a pretty fun and special month :o) LOOOOOOVE!
As always, there are lots more PROJECT SCRAP layouts (January – April) in our special PROJECT SCRAP gallery (wish I could show them ALL here, lol)- so be sure to check it out – I just know you’ll be inspired :o) MANY THANKS to all of you who have joined in the fun of project SCRAP! I think in the end, we all inspire and motivate each other…so keep posting and sharing :o)
You won’t want to miss the blog tomorrow when Kylie shares some hybrid inspiration with us :o) XOXO — sp

Hi everyone! :o) Kylie here with today’s very, very, very lovely Product Spotlight!
For a limited time, Clementine will be on SALE at the Shabby Shoppe for ONLY $5.95, that’s 25% off!
Clementine is an absolute sweetheart of a digi kit. Oh my darlin’, oh my darlin’ – how I love crafting layouts with my darlin’ Clementine!! ;o) This beautiful collection is my favorite of favorites. I have a feeling that it will be top of my list for many, many years, if not forever. It’s TIMELESS!! Clementine has so much personality. For all those special occasions she’s rich, bold and a little on the traditional side. For when you just want to scrap, endlessly, all those wonderful everyday moments she’s fun, fanciful and never ceases to inspire. And, no matter what type of page you are creating she’s always full of love and warmth! With a personality that big, well, the kit really needs to be BIG, too! And, that it is! It would take me forever to go through everything, so I’ll stick to a few of my dearly loved pieces – the buttons (3 styles!), the fabric flowers, the metal bookplates – all completely wonderful and used over and over again. I also love the little doodled paper buttons and frames – too cute! And I see that stitched heart everywhere! Oh and the beautiful word art stamps – goodness, how could I forget those! Okay, so I said I’d only mention a few things – I failed miserably! LOL! But seriously, I’ve only just scratched the surface of this huge digital kit, plus it’s so hard to stop once I get going. ;o) About now is an excellent time to share some inspiration from the lovely Shabby Shoppe Artists – we all went crazy for Clementine this week!
If you love Clementine as much as we do, but are a little stretched for time… well, we have just the solution – the 12 x 12 album. It’s STUNNING and just the thing to showcase your precious photos (and it’s on SALE for $6.95 - for a limited only)!
While you’re in the Shoppe why not check out the gorgeous Devoted and Sentimental BLOGwear to dress up your blog – clementine-style! And, for hybrid projects, look no further than the very pretty Bloom Box and MOTHER word albums. Both are fabulous keepsakes to make for yourself and/or perfect for gift-giving! :o)

happy ‘top of the week’ to ya, lol! SP here, to share our latest LAYOUT OF THE WEEK! This week was PARTICULARLY difficult because, as you probably already know, we try NOT to choose layouts that are part of one of our current challenges (template challenge, recipe challenge, project scrap, etc.) – and there were SOOOOOO many that fit into that category, lol! And, they were ALL gorgeous to boot! I thoroughly enjoyed browsing through each and every one…and then on the last page, I came across this week’s ‘winner’! Sigh, it was love at first sight :o)
This ‘strawberries’ (or as her sweet daughter would say, ‘STRAWBIES’ – sooooo cute, lol) layout by jessg26 is just sooooooo perfect! The first thing that caught my eye was the color scheme…the red just pops on top of that blue and green…and of course, you guys know I am a sucker for all things polka dot, lol! Then, you throw in a precious baby girl (Leah)…some wild strawberries…AND a couple of ladybugs – forget about it (and I didn’t even talk about the journaling), lol! It was a done deal at that point :o) Oh, I should probably mention that the layout design was FABULOUS, too – lol! Seriously…just WONDERFUL from start to finish!
CONGRATS, jessg26…enjoy your $10 gift card at the Shoppe (sent via email) :o) THANKS SOOOOO MUCH for posting! And, of course, MANY, MANY thanks to ALL OF YOU fabulously talented ladies who share your layouts/creations with us week in and week out :o) Our little gallery would certainly not be the same without ya!
Be sure to join us again tomorrow as Kylie spotlights one of my fave kits ever :o) Until then…have fun! XOXO — SP
