project SCRAP ‘check-in’ :o)

hey guys!  SP here…just wanting to check in with everyone on project SCRAP :o)  Can you believe January is GONE?!  Seriously…I am in disbelief, lol!  And, for project SCRAP, this means that we should all have our January photos ready to scrap (if you haven’t already)…so get busy and try not to put it off…ya know – that’s the whole point – to work on this album a little at a time!  Now, I couldn’t (or wouldn’t)  say this if I hadn’t finished mine yet, lolol…which, thankfully – I have (as of about an hour ago!)!  So, not only should you be SCRAPPING…but it’s also time to get started on those FEBRUARY photos!  Remember, two per week – though if you are like me – you’ll take lots more and just choose your faves (or the ones that are actually in focus, lol)!

If this is your first time hearing (reading) about project SCRAP here at the Shoppe’s Blog…CLICK HERE to see all of the past posts regarding this fun project (and to find the download for the free templates)!

I also want to address a few questions here…but first – how about a little inspiration?  Which reminds me…the GALLERY for project SCRAP 2011 is up and running…so be sure to post your layouts there!  We would all LOOOOVE to see…and hey, it’s great inspiration for everyone!  You can find the gallery by going HERE…and see the graphic below so you know what to look for!

Alright…so back to the layouts, lol!

My wonderfully amazing Kylie created these pages and I just ADORE them!  She always knows just the perfect papers and elements to work with…and this spread certainly proves that!

And, here are my pages!  I love that I am able to focus on little highlights from the month!  As you can see…my ‘large’ photos wouldn’t work for the one-photo page as they were taken in portrait instead of landscape!  NO WORRIES…I just popped in two photos instead…it fills the space perfectly and I was able to include a couple of my fave pics from the month!  I think someone had asked about that earlier (what if the photos do not work with the template?)…and as you can see – there is always an easy fix…just a little tweaking here and there :o)  Also…we had our large family Christmas celebration in the middle of January (i know, i know, lol…everyone is just so busy)…and of course, I took lots of photos – so they will get their own two page spread to follow these pages in my album! (p.s. my layouts are not in the gallery yet…but I promise to add them in the next day or two…whenever I have a spare moment, ha, lol)!

And, as I was peeking through the new project SCRAP gallery…I couldn’t help but see my sweet friend Carrie’s layouts…and they were so inspiring – I had to share!  Hope you don’t mind, Carrie, lol!  They are just perfection!

GORGEOUS, huh?  And, there are already quite a few more posted in the GALLERY (awesome, awesome, awesome) – so be sure to check them out…AND add YOURS :o)

Now, to answer a few questions :o)

  •  You may use the templates for previous years, photos, events, etc.!  We HOPE that you will join project SCRAP 2011 with us…but enjoy the templates for any of your own personal scrapbooking pages :o)
  • You will always be able to easily find any posts pertaining to project SCRAP by clicking on the PROJECT SCRAP 2011 category in the column on the right side of the blog (right over there ——-> somewhere, lol)…listed under the CATEGORIES heading)!  All posts that work back to the project will be available by clicking there!  You might have to scroll down and through all of the posts to find the one you are looking for…but it’s super simple!
  • Again, you do not have to have children in order to join in the fun!  Take photos of your everyday life…scrapbook about your job…your travels, your family, your hobbies – just take photos of landscapes or flowers and create an album!  Honestly – the possibilities are endless and there are no limits to what you can do!  Just make it meaninful for YOU!
  • If you are new to digital scrapbooking and want to join the project…my best advice is to visit our TUTORIALS section!  I cannot tell you the emails and thank yous and compliments I have received on our video tutorials for creating your first layout in Photoshop and/or Photoshop Elements.  We also have a simple tutorial HERE for working with our layered templates!  Finally, when learning to digi scrap…I have learned that GOOGLE is your best friend :o)  Just search for tutorials and/or classes!
  • When it comes to specific software questions – unfortunately, we cannot help a whole lot there :o(  There just aren’t enough hours in the day!  Of course, we always try to help when we can…but especially when it comes to software that we do not own or use…we just can’t offer much assistance, know what I mean?  Often times, you can contact the software company with your specific questions and they can help, since they know their product inside and out.  The main thing to remember for the templates…is that we share them in both PSD and TIFF formats…so your software will need to support one or both of those kinds of files.  And, when it comes to digi scrapping – you will want to be sure that your software can handle both PNG and JPG files.  We always suggest that you try our free templates shared here on the blog, or FREE KITS for a ‘test run’ to see if you are able to work with standard digi scrapping files :o)

Whew :o)  Alright – I think I have covered enough (or too much, lol) here!  I hope this post has been helpful…be sure to CHECK IN with us by leaving a comment and letting us know how your project SCRAP is coming along :o)

I’ll be back here on Thursday to share a new template for CHALLENGE NINE…and to announce the winner for TEMPLATE CHALLENGE EIGHT (challenge is closed)!  Until then…have fun!  XOXO — SP
