I always use the lasso tool--either the straight one or the magnetic lasso. I find it a million times easier than masking the whole thing. I learned it back when I did merchandise photos for a website. Everything on our website was extracted, and this way I could select what I wanted and quickly ditch the rest.

An excellent tut, Karen! You've totally taken out the "fear factor" for me with those great tips. I especially am looking forward to using my pen, I had not considered that before! Thanks so much!!

Fantastic post Karen! I've learnt so much from this, as I only ever zoom, zoom, zoom to extract and that kinda puts me off doing it! So THANKS, this is such a better way and I can't wait to try it out!! I love your layout too!!! :o)

This is the only one I've ever had so I can't compare, sorry! It looks like they have re-designed it since I got mine. One tip, if you already have Elements, it's cheaper to buy it with just the tablet and pen, (no Elements software.) Sorry I can't be more help. :)

Oooooo... i have been considering getting a pen for a while, but wasn't sure what to get. i was researching this one and the price is hard to beat. how do you like it, have you had any other types? i would love some feed back on the pen itself. thanks!
