Beckie, I can't begin to thank you for the valuable Photoshop lesson you just provided! I have NEVER used Raw for shooting and didn't even know about the ACR controls available in Photoshop. I had just taken some shots of my son on his 11th birthday, didn't get a chance to look at them for a few days and found them terribly washed out. I thought they would be a loss. I did what I could with levels and got so-so results. I just tried your technique on two of them and they came out perfectly! I will be using this technique from now on to rescue some of my "oops" photos. I look forward to hearing more great tips from you.
Thank you, thank you!

I have several photos that seem overexposed. When I tried to fix them in ACR I had a difficult time getting the coloring and white balance correct for the over exposed skin. Do you have any tips for that?

Hey Lu! I myself don't use noiseware very often, but I have read that most people tend to use separate software as it works better than the noiseware in ACR. I know I've seen one workflow in which the photo was first edited in ACR, then put through the noisewear. I think ACR has been updated though - so maybe the noisewear in the newer ACR works well. If someone else reading this has tried, let us know! :)

Thank you so much! I usually shoot in jpeg and use RAW only for important pics, like family photos, just so I can do edits like this. I had no idea there was such a thing as ACR. What a goldmine! Now maybe I won't have so many pics that I wish I would have shot in RAW (or maybe I'll just invest in some memory and shoot everything in it).

Awesome, Beckie! This is just what I needed. I've gone back and forth on whether to shoot in RAW, but due to file size have chosen jpg. But, I've never known how to make these adjustments. Thank you so much!!!

I just had to come back & comment again... I tried out ACR, and what a whole new world you just opened up for me, lol! I did have one question, though, regarding noise. I have PSE & right now I'm using a separate software to edit noise. Do you edit noise within CS? Just curious b/c if ACR opens directly into PS, when does the noise get edited? Sounds like a great work-flow question/post, lol! This post is a treasure, thanks so much!

oh, wow! I will have to go back & read this over several times, but I can already say that I am very encouraged now to attempt RAW. I won't be able to stand it, I'll have to try... You are such a wealth of knowledge (I knew that early on) & as always, you're able to convey the content in such an "understandable" manner. Thanks so much, can't wait to see what's next...

You really did a great job with this. I use ACR to edit all my photos, and I do take a lot of them in jpg. The ability to edit jpgs in ACR is awesome. I even can do it in PSE 5 by downloading an updated Camera RAW file. I find I also use the clarity and vibrance sliders as well. Vibrance brightens the mid-tone colors.

thanks so much, Jackie :o) and i do the same thing...i have to have my jpg files, too - lol...but only use them for previewing/deleting - saves me so much time b/c i really prefer to have the RAW files for my finals...but previewing them (especially when you are like me and take 500 at a time, lol) as jpg's just works for me!
