Hello everyone! Kylie here with this week’s PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT!
While most of you are having fun in the summer sunshine, I’m writing this Shabby Shoppe Blog post on a cold and frosty winter’s day. Yes that’s right – opposite seasons down here in the southern hemisphere!…and I started thinking, I’m so in need of a kit that is extra bright & cheerful that can chase a little of the chilliness away. And the gorgeous SANDBOX collection is just the kit to do it!!

It’s great for scrapping boys & girls (both young and old), all sorts of fun-filled family events, as well as the everyday moments captured by your camera lens. I had so much fun scrapping with SANDBOX…my little ray of sunshine on a winter’s day! :o), that I couldn’t stop at just one. Here are two of my favorites: one celebrates a warm summer’s day at the beach and the other showcases fun, love and laughter and all those wonderful papers!!

Oooh, I just bought this one last week. Can’t wait to scrap with it now that I’m done with the Father’s Day wallet project (my husband said it was the best gift, ever!)

Great job, Kylie! I just love Sandbox, so happy that you did it…it’s beautiful to capture summery beach photos (or in your case, last summer’s beach photos, lol!)

Hi Jasmine,
It’s actually fairly easy. I created a new layer in Photoshop and added a rectangle shape approximately the same shape as my photo. I then positioned my photo layer above the new rectangle layer (in the layers window) and created a clipping mask. Then using a soft edge eraser slowly erased the edges of the highlighted rectangle until I was happy with the shape. (Erasing parts of the rectangle layer only allows you to keep your photo intact so that you can move it around within the “clipping mask” if you want to.) I then merged the two layers into one. Changed the opacity to 45% and the blending mode to “Hard Light”.
Or you can use a pre-made photo mask and then play around with the layer opacity and blending mode. Less steps, but you are restricted to the photo mask shape and design.

This is one that I would have overlooked in browsing. I’m so happy to see the new inspiration layouts for this kit. I am completely in love with it now! I do believe I will be taking advantage of this sale :)
