I am a new photographer (1 year now), an old traditonal scrapbooker (7 years), and an new photoshop-per wanting to design digi kits. This info on aperature, shutterspeed, ISO, etc. I have been reading about over and over for a year and this post was one of the simplest and easiest to understand. I also loved the examples . . . sharing what modes you used for certain siuations was extremely helpful to me as well as the info on lens'. I have been trying to understand lens' and had them mixed up. I am ready and excited to pick up a 50 mm with a really low aperature setting (for those awesome portaits I am taking). I can only get mine to get to a 4.5 on a good day. I'm sure I will be reading over this info again and studying it over and over, as well as more practice. Thanks again!

Becky this is so cool! I finally read through all of it this weekend and let me just say LOVE IT! I don't have a dSLR, but I was able to still do a lot of the things you mentioned with mine. And I've been sharing this with everyone.

Wow! Thanks! My Canon camera has also been on Auto since I got it. I take lots of photos of my kids and definitely have problems with the quality. Thanks for taking the time to compile this post.

Thanks Vicki! I hope it was helpful...It took me a while to "get it", but when I did, I had that huge "OH!!!" moment! I was hoping the bucket analogy (combined with Kirk's hose idea) would do the trick ;o)
